By incorporating our Vision and Mission statements of becoming disciples of Christ, unified in fostering a relationship with God and all His people on the Eastern Shore, we have chosen to highlight the spiritual as well as physical aspects of our parish in our logo.   

 

The Eastern Shore is blessed with the gift of water! Our ocean, lakes, rivers and streams are abundantly evident from one end of our parish to the other and we included the image of waves to represent this physical attribute of our church community. 

 

On the spiritual level, parishioners of St. John of the Cross recognize the Trinity as one of the core tenets of our faith. In our logo, God the Father, the Creator, is depicted by the water; God the Son, the Redeemer, is symbolized by the Cross; and God the Holy Spirit, the Sanctifier, is portrayed by the image of the dove. These depictions are backlit by the sun - representing the virtues of faith, hope and love that guide us on our life’s journey as followers of Christ.
